Tours for June 2013

posted Jun 6, 2013, 8:34 AM by Jack Cadranel
I look forward to guiding you on my tours this summer.

I am currently planning a full day bus tour to Akko and Atlit and a tour in Jerusalem that will give a glimpse into the world of the Hassidim. Watch for details. Meanwhile here are this month's walking tours.

On Monday June 10th we shall visit many of the historic buildings along the Jaffa road between the Mahane Yehuda market and King George Street. The Jaffa Road that led from the Old City of Jerusalem to the port of Jaffa, was the first street in Jerusalem to be paved. Over the past few years it has seen tremendous changes and huge disruption. Now, with the light rail in operation, it has been reborn. This tour costs 70 shekels.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. on Jaffa Road at the entrance to the Mahane Yehuda open market.

"Let's Talk Herod" on Monday June 17th. We will visit the model of Second Temple Period Jerusalem, the Archaeology Wing and the fabulous new exhibition “Herod the Great: The King’s Final Journey” at the Israel Museum. Meet at 2.00 pm in the entrance foyer of the museum. The tour will cost 50 shekels plus museum entrance. Places are limited on this tour. Make sure you register in advance.

On Monday June 24th join me to tour "North Along the Seam Line: from Mount Zion to the Mandelbaum Gate". We'll walk from Mount Zion around and on top of the Old City walls, through the Musrara neighbourhood where Moshe Dayan and Abdulla a-Tal drew the cease fire line, to the site of the Mandelbaum Gate. The tour will cost 75 shekels. Meet at 9.30 am just outside the Zion Gate.

Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and to bring hats and water. Each walking tour lasts about 3 hours. Please note that the schedule is subject to change and that walking tours will only take place if a minimum number of people have registered. Registration in advance is required.
