Here are two tours for next week to help you to have fun while you walk off the effects of those Chanukah doughnuts. On Monday December 21st we'll explore Ir David - the City of David. The patriarch Abraham came here nearly 4,000 years ago. The Canaanite king of Jerusalem wrote letters to Pharaoh from here more than 3,000 years ago. This is where David wrote the book of Psalms, where the biblical prophets preached, and where Nehemiah rebuilt the walls when the exiles returned from Babylon. This is where it all began. We shall meet by the ticket office at the Ir David Visitors'Center at 9.30 am.. On Wednesday December 23rd we'll take a Walk on the Walls. Starting at the Jaffa Gate we'll follow the Ramparts Walk to the Damascus Gate and see the Old City and beyond from a whole new perspective. We'll return to ground level and walk through the colorful local markets of Old City on our way back to the Jaffa Gate. We'll meet at 9.30 am just outside the Jaffa Gate. Each of these tours lasts 2-3 hours and costs NIS 60 per person plus site entry fees. There are site entry fees of NIS 25 per person on Monday's tour and NIS 14 per person on Wednesday.
