The Cease Fire Line / Mount Herzl and the Miltary Cemetery

posted Mar 16, 2012, 12:56 AM by Jack Cadranel
Both of our Jerusalem walking tours this week are connected to the War of Independence and it's consequences.
A Walk along the Cease Fire Line will introduce you to some of the quirks and crazinesses of the 1948-1967 Cease Fire Line as it cut through Jerusalem.  You'll follow a wonderfully scenic route along the Haas and Sherover Promenades through Abu Tor to Yemin Moshe.  Join this tour on Monday March 19th.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. in the Haas Promenade (Tayelet) parking lot near the UN building (Bus No.8).
You can trace the struggle to establish the State of Israel and to sustain it on a tour of Mount Herzl and the Military Cemetery on Wednesday March 21st .  On this quiet and beautiful hillside are memorials to those who fell in Israel's wars, to leaders of the Zionist movement and of the State of Israel and to immigrants who died trying to reach our shores.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. at the entrance to the Military Cemetery (Buses 21, 21א or light rail).
Please note that the schedule is subject to change and that walking tours will only take place if a minimum of three people have registered.  Registration in advance is required.  Call 054-647-8955 or email tourwithjack@gmail.com .  Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and to bring hats and water.  Each walking tour lasts 2-3 hours and costs NIS 70.
