The 15th Century Turkish walls of the Old City of Jerusalem provide the link between our tours this week.

The tour on Monday January 25th is called Breaking Out of the Walls of the Old City.  Although in the 1850’s living conditions in the Old City were dire, people were too frightened to live outside the safety that its walls and locked gates offered them.  On this tour you will visit the first few Jewish neighbourhoods to be built outside the Old City and hear the stories of the benefactors and communal leaders like Moses Montefiore, Rabbis David ben Shimon and Yosef Rivlin who built them.
We'll meet at 9.30am just outside the Jaffa Gate.

On Wednesday 27th January we'll take A Walk on the Walls.  Starting at the Jaffa Gate we'll follow the Ramparts Walk to the Damascus Gate and see the Old City and beyond from a whole new perspective.  We'll return to ground level and walk through the colorful local markets of Old City on our way back to the Jaffa Gate.
We'll meet at 9.30am just outside the Jaffa Gate.

Each of these tours lasts 2-3 hours and costs NIS 60 per person plus site entry fees.  There are site entry fees of NIS 14 per person on Wednesday.  Please register in advance 054-647-8955 or tourwithjack@gmail.com .
