Join this week's tours to explore one of Jerusalem's garden suburbs and see the Old and New City from a whole new perspective.
On Monday December 13th take A Walk on the Walls from the Citadel to the Dung Gate. The tour starts at the Tower of David and follows the Ramparts Walk southwards past the Armenian Quarter, Mount Zion and the Jewish Quarter to the Dung Gate. Leaving the ramparts near the Western Wall, it winds its way back through the markets and the Jewish Quarter to the Jaffa Gate.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. just outside the Jaffa Gate. On Wednesday December 15th tour Rechavia. Built in the 1920s as a "garden suburb" the upscale neighbourhood of Rechavia was home to many of Israel's early leaders. Take in the neighbourhood's architecture and history, hear the stories of some of its more famous residents and find out why Yekkes were living in Spanish streets. Meet at 9.30 a.m. at the corner of King George and Keren Kayemet Le'Israel Streets (just outside the Zionist institution buildings). Coming up in the following week: On Monday December 20th at 1.30 p.m. follow the Rebuilding of Jewish Jerusalem from 1267 - 1860. On Wednesday December 22nd at 8.00 a.m. - a visit to the Temple Mount. |
