Pesach begins next week and to celebrate I have a new tour for you. The rabbis teach that as we were brought to freedom at Pesach we not only came out of Mitzraim, Egypt, but also from meitsarim, those things that constrain and bind us. Whilst we celebrated our independence as a nation in 1948 in Jerusalem we remained contsrained by a border that divided our densely populated city.
On the first day of Chol Hamoed, Wednesday April 20th at 9.30 a.m., take A Walk along the Cease Fire Line. Discover some of the quirks and crazinesses of the 1948-67 Cease Fire Line as it cut through Jerusalem while you follow a wonderfully scenic route along the Haas Promenade through Abu Tor to Yemin Moshe.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Haas Promenade (Tayelet) near the UN building.
Please wear comfortable shoes and bring hats and water. The tour lasts 2-3 hours and costs NIS 60 per person. Registration in advance is required. Please call 054-647-8955 or email tourwithjack@gmail.com . My next public tour will be during the first week of May. Please watch out for details.. With best wishes for a happy and kosher Pesach. Chag sameach! |
