On Wednesday December 28th tour the picturesque neighbourhoods of Nachlaot and the bustling Mahane Yehuda Market. In the last quarter of the 19th Century Jewish neighbourhoods began to spring up along the Jaffa Road. A makeshift market began grew in a nearby field in an arrangement that suited everyone. Farmers from the local villages had found an outlet for their produce and residents of the new neighbourhoods were spared the long walk to the Old City to buy their food. Today these neighbourhoods and the market that grew up on their doorstep are much loved features of the city.
Meet at 9.30 a.m.at the corner of King George and Agrippas Streets.
