The tour on Monday 15th August follows the story of the Jewish community of Jerusalem Breaking Out of the Walls of the Old City.  Although in the 1850's living conditions in the Old City were dire, people were too afraid to live outside the safety that its walls and locked gates offered the.  This tour takes you from Montefiore's windmill to Harav Kook's house.  You will visit the first few neighbourhoods to be built outside the Old City and hear the stories of the benefactors and communal leaders who built them.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. outside the entrance to the Begin Centre, Nahon Street.

On Wednesday 17th August explore Markets and Marketplaces in the Old City.  Everyone loves Jerusalem's bustling, colourful markets.  For three thousand years, since King Solomon built the First Temple, Jerusalem's shopkeepers have catered to the needs of local residents and to the needs of thousands of pilgrims and tourists.  The markets reflect the long history of the city and the diversity of her residents and visitors.  The tour will visit markets ancient, mediaeval and modern.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. just outside the Jaffa Gate.
